In the New Year - The Walkmen
I’ve decided to start trying again, in regards to this blog. ECEU has taken a long, winding journey into the sort of always-semi-on-vacation/hiatus status that it’s all but come to occupy in the past two years. A good deal of which is due to the fact that my life is simply incredibly busy and, though I still love listening to and writing about music every bit as much as I ever did, I just haven’t been able to put the time into doing it (the writing, at least) on a regular basis.
But, as I said, I’m starting fresh in 2011, in my own small way. It’s not ever going to be as active as it was back in its heyday (2005-2007), but I’m going to get back to trying to write about at least one good song every single week. It’s going to be all over the map, song-wise, but I intend to make that a good thing. It won’t be about keeping up with trends, but rather about keeping up with what’s moved me in any given week. It will be about good music. Which is exactly where “In the New Year” comes in. A song I perpetually play each and every January, gulping in cold winter air to help me scream out its cathartic chorus.
To a new year, then.
‘I know that it’s true, it’s gonna be a good year’. yes! fuck uncertainty, this is gonna be good
Indeed. To a new year, and to more writing.
