    I Don’t Want Love - The Antlers

    I was nervous in the moment before putting on the brand new record from The Antlers, nervous in the way that only second albums can make you. Because, while Hospice was a fantastic record, it could well have been a fluke. Many great first records are. A follow-up, then, is the difference between luck/timing and talent, the difference between Clap Your Hands Say Yeah! and The Arcade Fire, if you catch my drift.

    Thankfully, The Antlers didn’t leave me worried for very long. This song, “I Don’t Want Love”, is the first track on the new record, and is a sign of the goodness to come. This isn’t Hospice, and as great as that record was, that’s a good thing. They showed they could do something else, go another way, and still be worth listening to. And that’s why I’m no longer worried about The Antlers.
